In the heart of the Rocky Mountains, Utah Cancer Specialists (UCS), Utah’s largest community-based oncology practice, is seeking a skilled, congenial and hard-working Full time Palliative Care Physician in Supportive/Palliative Medicine for oncology and hematology patients.

Located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains (where the cost of living is lower than most metropolitan areas of equal size), Salt Lake City offers unique recreational opportunities including world class Nordic and Alpine skiing, hiking, mountain biking, golf and fly-fishing. Utah is home to five national parks. We boast a broad spectrum of cultural and entertainment choices: theatre, dance, music, visual arts, museums, professional sports and more. Annual Festivals and Events are joined by traveling productions, concerts, special exhibits at museums, competitive sports, and just about any event you can imagine.

The incumbent will provide education, guidance, advocacy and coordinated care to practice patients from early diagnosis to advanced illness. This provider assists patients with pain and symptom management, psychosocial issues, treatment options (including alternative therapies) and continuity across the continuum of care. Hours are M-F, 40 hr. /week. No weekends, holidays, evenings or on call. The main location would be in Salt Lake City, with one day per week in Murray, Utah (15 minutes away). This is an embedded position in a large, well-established private hematology/oncology practice, which allows real time collaboration with the oncologists.

UCS has nine clinics across the Wasatch Front with 15 medical oncologists, three radiation oncologists, two rehabilitative and support care physicians, 15 mid-level providers (NPs/PA-Cs) and 40 supporting oncology nurses. UCS actively participates in cooperative and Phase I - IV clinical research.

The desired candidate should have an outgoing and engaging personality, be willing to meet with providers and referral sources, be able to manage and direct staff, and contribute to the improvement of services. Experience in oncology is desired but not mandatory. Selected candidates will be board certified or near completing appropriate fellowship, excellent references and have a DEA license.
