Summary
The Health Care Aide position requires a compassionate individual with core skills in home & community care, patient care, and senior care. Premium skills in assisted living, Alzheimer's care, and hospice care are valued. Relevant skills in cleaning, cooking, and medical documentation are beneficial. Experience with EMR systems and working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus. The role involves providing care to residents while upholding their rights and ensuring effective communication in English.
Responsibilities:
1. Work at the direction of the Director of Nursing according to scheduled duties.
2. Understanding that facility must be staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including weekends and holidays.
3. Meet residents needs by assisting with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, toileting, ambulating and feeding.
4. Participate in planned in-services and on-going educational training.
5. Assist residents in and out of bed and wheelchairs as needed.
6. Clean specific common areas as needed.
7. Observe residents for any changes in condition and report to the Director of Nursing or the nurse on duty for an emergency.
8. Answer pendent alarms promptly.
9. Keep resident’s rooms clean and safe.
10. Assist or provide tray service to room in the event of a medical condition.
11. Assist or provide supervision for residents performing the following activities of daily living (ADL’s): Shaving Oral hygiene Bathing Dressing Ambulating Toileting
12. Bed linen changing on laundry/housekeeping day.
13. Assist in orienting residents to new surroundings.
14. Do laundry per laundry schedule.
15. Assist with self administration of medication when needed.
16. Assist with activities.
7. Attend care conferences when needed.
18. Encourage to exercise resident rights.
19. Promote loyalty to Facility among staff, visitors, inquiries by supporting policies and procedures.
20. Visual and audio acuity necessary to detect changes in resident condition.
21. Must have patience, flexibility and tact in dealing with others.
22. Must possess genuine concern for and ability to work with older adults.
23. Must accept risk of working in-group setting where employees are exposed to communicable disease and occasional combativeness.
24. Must be committed to providing exceptional customer service.
25. Will check resident pendants to assure the are working and intact.
26. Observe resident skin conditions and report abnormal findings to supervisor/staff nurse.
27. Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
28. Knock and address each resident before entering his/her apartment.
29. Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property to supervisor immediately.
30. Create and maintain a warm atmosphere, personal interest and calm environment throughout the facility.
31. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
1. Physical demands include: stooping bending turning stretching including pushing and pulling lifting to assist residents moving equipment
2. Must be fluent in English. 3. Must be proficient in reading English.
4. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
5. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public. 6. Must be at least eighteen (18) years pf age.
7. Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
8. Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
9. Must be able to communicate information concerning a residents’ condition.
10. Must have demonstrated ability to meet job performance expectations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $14.50 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
