Klamath County Fire District 1 (KCFD1) is establishing an eligibility list for full-time Paramedic positions (EMS, non-firefighting).
MINUMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
As a condition of employment, must maintain certifications required by the Fire District's Supervising Physician and Oregon EMS license, at least to the level of certification during duration of employment.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid Oregon driver's license and maintain a safe driving record throughout the duration of employment.

EVOC certified, NFPA Driver, or equivalent (may obtain during Academy).

OSHA equivalent HazMat Emergency Responder Awareness and Operations (may obtain during Academy).
- ICS 100, 200, 700 (may obtain during Academy).

Current Oregon and/or National Registry Paramedic certification. Must obtain Oregon certification within 30 days of date of hire.

ACLS Certification.
LATERAL ENTRY
Candidates that meet the lateral minimum requirements will be placed at either a Step 2 or Step 3 of the established pay scale. Step placement to be determined by current rate of pay.

Candidates must currently be employed as a full-time Paramedic with no breaks in service, and with three (3) or more years continuous service with satisfactory performance in a like position with similar responsibilities, demonstrated skillset and level of expertise, and served in an organization of similar complexity as KCFD1.

ABOUT THE DISTRICT
Klamath County Fire District 1 (KCFD1) is located in Klamath Falls (south-central Oregon), which provides structural and wildland fire protection, emergency advanced life support, ambulance transport, inter-facility ambulance transport, hazardous materials response and emergency rescue.
New employees can expect to be housed in modern facilities co-located with our fire crews. Our ambulances fleet is comprised of vehicles less than 5 years old. EMS service providers are furnished with state-of-the-art lifesaving equipment including Life Pak 15s and Lucas devices.
All KCFD1 uniformed personnel are licensed EMTs or paramedics. The District staffs three ALS ambulances which respond from Station 1, Station 3 and Station 4. Each ambulance is staffed with a minimum of one paramedic and one EMT. In addition, all four front-line KCFD1 engines are equipped to provide ALS response. In 2023 KCFD1 responded to over 9000 calls. Personnel will be scheduled to work a 56-hour (48/96 shift schedule) and are represented by IAFF Local 890.

TESTING PROCESS
Projected testing is scheduled for the week of September 9th. Dates to be announced upon receiving an invite to test. This subject to change with prior notice.
Eligibility & List
An eligibility list for the Paramedic position will be created based upon final overall scores. Hiring lists are active for 90 days. The Fire Chief may extend the duration of the list with prior notice. Conditional job offers will be extended based on KCFD1's need at the time of hire or as needed.
Conditional Offers
All conditional job offers are contingent upon successful completion of an extensive fit-for-duty medical evaluation, drug screen, and full background investigation.

Veterans' preference will be accorded as provided by Oregon Revised Statue (ORS 408.230). Under Oregon law, armed forces veterans who successfully complete the initial application screening and meet the minimum qualifications for the position will be awarded preference points.
