In this position, you provide personal care for our residents under the supervision of our nursing staff. Job Duties Include:
Provides direct personal care services for residents according to the resident’s respective plan of care.
Bathes and dresses residents, provides personal care in toileting, combing hair, mouth and nail care, and provide lotion rubs as required.
Takes and records vital signs, weights and intake and output as instructed by the charge nurse.
Feeds infirm or ill residents, and assists others with their meals, providing between meal nourishment when required.
Assists residents in transfers and walking, in a manner consistent with established safety procedures.
Applies incontinence products as required.
Transports residents within the nursing home, insuring that the transport is performed safely, promptly and in a manner consistent with established safety procedure
Maintains clean or orderly physical environment for residents.
Make beds, clean and straighten rooms and equipment daily as required, and maintains a sanitary environment for residents at all times.
Able to communicate (read, write, speak) in English.
Maintains an awareness of the physical and emotional well being of assigned residents and promptly report a changing status to the nurse in charge as instructed.Reports all types of unusual occurrences immediately.
Answers devices for signaling nursing and nursing assistants (using call lights or communicators) and deliver messages as required.
Demonstrates sensitivity to residents needs and maintain a respectful manner.Uses patience and tact when communicating with residents.
Catholic Eldercare is committed to recognition and effective management of each resident’s pain and suffering. Every employee (within the scope of their position) is responsible to seek relief for any resident observed to be in pain (physical, spiritual or otherwise) through therapeutic intervention (hand holding, physical touch, acknowledgement of discomfort) and reporting the discomfort to the appropriate staff.
Perform all duties in a manner that is consistent with quality standards, infection control,and safety measures, which includes using Standard Precautions, at all times.
Participate in in-service programs, mandatory training, and attend meetings in the interest of improving skills, acquiring knowledge, and meeting state and federal regulations.
Remain current on tuberculosis screening.
Work as a team member and adapt to changes in work assignments to meet resident and/or staffing needs.
This position requires working every other weekend and holiday.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
State of Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry, with more than 6 months experience, preferred.
Ability to work independently and dependably to efficiently deliver care to meet resident needs.
Ability to work with residents from diverse backgrounds.
Maintain continuing education credits as required.
Reading, writing and speaking in English is a requirement of this position.
