Title: Analyst – Investment Manager Due Diligence

We are seeking a due diligence professional for our fast growing firm. In this role, you will support the firm’s due diligence activities as a key member of the investment manager research team. The main focus of the role will be conducting risk-based investment and operational due diligence on a variety of hedge funds and private equity funds, as well as specialized investment managers who invest the assets of ultra-high net worth investors across a wide spectrum of investment mandates. A key aspect of this role will be your ability to apply fundamental due diligence principals to a variety of applications, such as the diligence of investment programs ranging from large international banks to small RIAs / multi-family offices. These funds or investment managers span the US and Europe. As a member of the due diligence team, you will will work closely with members of the Product Development, Legal & Compliance and Sales Teams, with frequent presentations to an investment committee and interactions with executive management.
Support the team and perform investment and operational due diligence assessments on fund managers and specialized investment managers involving analysis and assessment of prospective strategy, investment process, risk management practices, operational controls, and legal/regulatory disclosures.
Evaluate the overall quality of systems, controls, infrastructure and personnel in order to identify issues relevant to the overall investment decision
Review materials received and independently sourced to prepare fund manager summaries for internal review.
Learn insurance-specific requirements of fund managers, and apply those to all reviews.
Communicate with fund managers to request and obtain desired information and documents on an initial and ongoing basis.
Apply analytical skills and proficiency with excel to review funds against peers, benchmarks and existing investment offerings in order to provide ongoing education and updates to sales & marketing teams about industry and platform trends.
Create and deliver presentations and product updates to track and report on the investment platform funds using excel, powerpoint and internal technology
Support initiatives designed to deliver information regarding Lombard’s platform and funds to internal and external partners. This may include drafting and maintaining fund summaries, participating in the development of technology enabled system to share information regarding the platform, etc.
Compile and archive supporting diligence documentation and materials.
Support other special requests.
Desired Skills and Experience
Previous employment (1+ years) and relevant experience evaluating investment opportunities at a fund, investment consultant, or other institutional investor in a role where manager due diligence and research production was a primary component of workload.
Bachelor’s degree required. Progress towards CFA or CAIA a plus.
Highly motivated individual who has demonstrated success in prior work experience, and who is able to execute independently on assigned tasks.
Excellent organizational skills, ability to track multiple projects and juggle multiple priorities
Strong analytical, problem solving, communication and presentation skills.
High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
Ability to professionally represent the firm.
Familiarity with alternative investments, asset classes and strategies.
Familiarity with insurance products and insurance licenses are a plus.
Must be amenable to travel for fund manager meetings (estimate 10% or approx 5-10 trips per year).
Develop ideas of possible improvements to the diligence process.
Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, team environment.
Ability to meet tight deadlines and dynamically shifting priorities.
