JOB TITLE: Economic Development Director
DEPARTMENT: Executive Management
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, organize, manage and evaluate all economic development activities and programs of the Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa.
Formulate recommendations, policies and plans for economic development options based on overall goals and objectives of the Tribe.
Conduct research, gather and interpret economic and statistical data relevant to development initiatives.
Review proposals relevant to job duties, prepare recommendations and present for action by governing body.
Implement and monitor projects related to economic development, including contract development and negotiation, when appropriate.
Assist and advise the Tribal Council and other tribal staff on issues related to economic development initiatives.
Understand customary laws and practices associated with the Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa and incorporate, as appropriate.
Represent the Tribe on the Tama County Economic Board.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration , Economics, Planning or Public Administration and 6 years of professional experience in economic development and/or community development activities OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prefer Master's Degree in Business Administration, Planning, or Public Administration.
Prefer experience working with Indian tribal organizations.
Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
Be knowledgeable and proficient in P.C. word processing, spreadsheet, Internet and e-mail.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in teambuilding and teamwork.
Supervised by the Deputy Executive Director
Annual Salary Range: $69,763.20 - $122,928.00
