Raytheon Intelligence & Space is looking to staff a Principal Hardware Quality Engineer position located in Marlborough, MA. The Principal Hardware Quality Engineer will provide quality engineering support and expertise to SAS, Integrated Communication Systems (ICS) to ensure compliance with contractual, company, and regulatory requirements.
Additional roles and responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
Plan and implement key controls and processes to assure “built-in” quality.
Provide program team with analyses of the performance of the program’s processes against performance requirements and quality of products against customer quality requirements.
Assure records are complete, correct, controlled and archived. Collect and report predictive performance measures to indicate trends and issues.
Conduct independent specification reviews and assessments.
Engage as a member of the failure review boards (FRB) and Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) investigation team.
Participate in the design, development, integration and test phases.
Participate in the peer review process.
Perform independent process and product assessments, root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action.
Support program, corporate and third-party audits and assessments.
Verify correctness of formal test procedures and test configurations and participate in qualification test, including post-test actions and requalification testing.
Engage in transition to production activities including providing input to process and design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Interface with customer source inspection representatives.
Assure special test equipment (STE) and tooling comply with approved assembly and tooling drawings, assembly instructions, test procedures and metrology requirements.
Perform lab and/or manufacturing center audits to verify product safety requirements are adhered to throughout build and test, including electrostatic discharge (ESD), foreign object damage (FOD), critical lifts and storage.
Manage dropped and damaged hardware processing and incident reporting.
Lead timely identification, segregation and disposition and closure of nonconforming material, including Material Review Board activities.
Assure identification and segregation of all out-of-tolerance equipment and tooling, and assure investigation into product impact.
Oversee processing of customer returned material and control of deficiency report documents from receipt to delivery of corrected product. Perform or assist Engineering in a physical configuration audit (PCA).

8 years of experience in core Quality or related tasks (planning, control, improvement) in driving compliance and validation in all activities
6 years of increasing responsibility in new product design & development, quality, integration, test, and/or product realization
Experience with general ISO-9001/AS9100 Quality requirements, commercial, aerospace, and/or defense regulations and standards (eg. ANSI, ASTM)
Demonstrated competency in the application of the personal computer to complete assignments, including skills with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Access, MS Project, etc.
Ability to use analytical tools and methods
Experienced in audit techniques and skills
Experience with technical procedures, specifications, standards, and other engineering and manufacturing documents
Have prior experience working with suppliers and customers
Demonstrate good soft skills and have the ability to work within a cross-functional team environment
Ability to obtain DoD Secret Security Clearance

Familiar with and has some practical experience of Six Sigma methodologies (e.g. Kaizen, Lean, DMAIC, and DMADV) and tools (e.g. ANOVA, SPC, Capability Analysis, DOE, MSA, and FMEA).
Experience in supporting design and manufacturing processes and have the ability to work within a cross-functional team environment
Experience in product and process auditing
Experience with AS 9100 quality management systems, and experience in aerospace-related manufacturing environment
Experience in aerospace-related manufacturing environment
Certified Six Sigma Specialist or Expert/Black Belt
Active DoD Secret Clearance
Bachelor of Science Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics
Bachelor of Art Degrees in an appropriate field of science (Computer Science, Chemistry or Physics)
Bachelor of Art Degree in Mathematics
