Mission & Overview (Summary)

The CAD Manager is responsible for creating, organizing, and managing individual drawing sheets as well as complete CAD design packages. Providing CAD support to the various design disciplines and/or departments. Creation, implementation, and auditing of drawing packages to ensure drawings are in compliance with either Thinkwell or client specific drafting standards. The CAD Manager is also responsible for the management and integration of design drawings and project CAD packages from all production departments and disciplines.

Responsibilities
Ability to adopt and adapt the Thinkwell CAD standards and processes to the best industry standard, with approval of the managers of departments that use CAD e.g., Show Set, Technical Services, Audio / Video, Controls, Lighting, etc.
Management of digital CAD assets, coordination of multiple drawings and multi discipline design packages in a variety of file formats for internal use and as transmittals to clients and third party contractors. This includes integration and coordination of CAD and non-CAD files or drawing packages from outside third party contractors. Creation and management of CAD exports for use by non-CAD users.
Coordinate and manage all production CAD packages with the all departments. Will be a key person to help support the Tech and Show Set departments with troubleshooting and resolving CAD related issues.
Provide ongoing (QC) quality control oversight through continuous review and auditing of CAD drawing packages that are created by the various departments. Will be required to participate in the quality control process for all CAD related disciplines to maintain the Thinkwell standards.
Provide Training and Management to Members of all Departments involved in using CAD to create design packages.
Ensuring compliance with Thinkwell and Client CAD standards and practices by performing regular review, auditing, and corrective maintenance of drawing packages.
Create new project drawing sheet sets packages for the various disciplines assign to a project.
Create and implement through one on one training of LISP or VBA routines and tools to automate the process of updating drawings quickly and efficiently.
Review drawings created by Thinkwell departments and outside sources to ensure files being referenced meet Thinkwell Standards and are suitable for integration with CAD design packages.
Interface with Thinkwell and outside third party design/architecture staff and project management in order to insure effective integration of CAD drawing packages.
Interface with Thinkwell Project Managers / Producers to review the drawing package schedules and scope to access all project requirements to assist in resource planning with the Production Studio Manager.
Review CAD practices and standards of clients and outside vendors in order to insure effective integration with TWG CAD drawing packages. Adjust or modify TWG practices and standards as required to comply with client drawing requirements or standards.
Provide Thinkwell CAD Standards training to new and existing related disciplines and department team members. May include testing new hires for CAD proficiency.
May be required to perform drafting duties for project work on an as needed basis for various design disciplines.
Experience & Skills (Minimum Requirements)
Clear and strong communication skills, both written and verbal, one on one and in a group setting.
Able to organize information and clearly communicate with patience and flexibility for training and mentoring other CAD designers.
High level of competency in AutoCAD including the use of Sheet Sets, LISP routines, VBA coding and fields. Completed all design and production phases of CAD Package management and demonstrated competency throughout all design phases. Knowledgeable in working with multi discipline / department / project CAD packages. Revit training is also a major plus but not required. Education & Experience
Minimum 3-5 years experience and / or formal training, preferably with demonstrated experience in completing multi phase CAD packages with a minimum of 2 years of theme park design or experience in a related field.
