Department's Role, Scope, and Mission:
The mission of the Department of Recreational Sports and Wellness is to lead and engage the University community in learning and adopting life long healthy behavior by providing quality programs, services and safe, state of the art facilities and to support the recruitment and retention of Southeastern students.
Leads all outreach initiatives of the department along with providing direction for youth programs. Directs all aspects of Summer Camp. Organizes membership drives.
Bachelor's degree in physical education, business administration, education, health promotion, management, or recreation administration or similar field of study.
Two (2) or more years of experience with summer camp programs. One (1) or more years experience with managing memberships and marketing.
Master's degree from an accredited university.
Served in administrative roles in a children's camp setting and/or as a coach or teacher.
Competent in staff training and supervision, program evaluation, and computer applications.
Managed memberships and developed programs for members and recruitment.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Must possess the ability to work with children in indoor and outdoor settings, and demonstrate a positive attitude, self-motivation, the ability to learn quickly, flexibility and commitment to teamwork.
Effective written and verbal communication, organizational, leadership, and management skills.
A demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse student population is a must.
Must be CPR/FA Certified and CASA Certified or able to be certified by both.
