Registered Nurse (RN) Infusion Therapy / Intravenous Therapy (IV Therapy)
Infusion nursing is a specialty is focused on the care of patients receiving intravenous (IV) therapy, or medications and fluids via injection. Infusion nurses ensure patients receive the correct IV for the treatment ordered, select and manage the appropriate device and monitor and evaluate the patient’s response to the IV therapy. They monitor patients, manage their tubing, maintain arterial catheters, and observe for potential drug complications. Infusion nurses must possess keen assessment and monitoring skills, be highly skilled at performing venipuncture, possess knowledge of different IV medications, fluids, and blood products, aware of infection control precautions, and be competent in working with a variety of different vascular access devices associated with infusions such as peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC) and midline access catheters.
- Background in IV Therapy, or Infusions preferred. Emergency, or ICU experience with strong background in IV administration accepted.
- 1 year of experience within the last 3 years
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Current Nursing License in CA
