The Department of Biology at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, invites applications for a non-tenure-track, Lecturer position in Biology, to begin in the 2020-2021 academic year. The primary responsibilities involve instruction and overseeing a two-semester sequence of undergraduate Human Anatomy and Physiology lecture and associated laboratory sections. Total enrollment in the course over both semesters is approximately 500 students. In addition, the successful candidate is also expected to teach a small enrollment, specialized course based on area of expertise and experience, each semester. Start date for the position is August 25, 2020.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and will be full-time salary with full-time benefits. The term of this interim position will be for one academic year.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A Ph.D. or other doctoral degree in Biology or relevant field is required. Demonstrated undergraduate teaching experience and a commitment to teaching excellence in human anatomy and physiology is required. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience engaging with diverse populations, large lecture and laboratory classes as well as innovative teaching methods.
