GP Strategies' Engineering and Technical Services team has a new and exciting opportunity to support technical training development as a Senior Instructional Designer. This senior-level role has the potential to transition into a regular, full-time role contingent upon award of contract.
Key aspects of the senior instructional designer position are to interface with clients to understand their performance improvement needs, design effective training solutions within project budgets, lead the instructional design team, and ensure overall project quality and success.
The successful candidate will collaborate with GP Strategies team members, client sponsors, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to:
Lead instructional needs, define course or program requirements, manage projects through the development process, and ensure instructional integrity.
Collaborate to develop project and program goals, training objectives and measurements by analyzing needs and proposing multiple solutions.
Apply instructional design techniques and methodologies to design interactive courseware and other supporting materials to ensure effective curricula and learning experiences.
Draft design documents to include: audience and learning environment analysis, instructional goals and strategy, content outline, user navigation, screen/page template designs, storyboard/script development with text, voice, sound, and graphics descriptions and instructions to production team, prototype development, assessment/evaluation strategy
Write learning objectives, course content, scenarios, media scripts, practice activities, and posttests.
Manage junior instructional designers to ensure projects are completed on time and to client expectations, and problems are anticipated or resolved quickly
Use rapid development content tools (e.g., Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline) to create online courseware
Advanced understanding of instructional design (especially for e-learning and blended programs), as well as excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills. Must display original thinking and creativity and excel at meeting challenges with resourcefulness and innovative ideas.
Master’s Degree in Instructional Systems Design or related fields (e.g., Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, etc.) and five plus years’ experience with interactive training projects or other relevant combination of education and experience
Ability to lead and work multiple projects simultaneously, while providing mentorship and coaching of junior instructional designers
