We are the Advanced-A Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs and are located less than a mile from the beautiful white sand beaches that stretch for 60+ miles along the Grand Strand. Myrtle Beach hosts 16,000,000+ visitors annually and the destination consistently ranks among the best in the country. The Pelicans are in their 22nd year in Myrtle Beach and play at the beautiful TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark.

Under the leadership of the Greenberg Sports Group, we want to hire stars that will become superstars in the sports industry and have the track record to prove it. The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are hiring a seasonal position (February - September) to assist in the fan engagement department. This person will work directly under the Director of Fan Engagement to help enhance the fan experience at TicketReturn.com Field.
Help promote the Pelicans at events throughout the Grand Strand Community and those visiting the area. This includes attending events on nights and weekends.
Work non-traditional revenue events being held at the ballpark such as concerts, trade shows, etc.
Prepare and execute game day events such as giveaways, promotional theme nights, and on-field entertainment.
Coordinate and execute pre-game activities and entertainment.
Perform as mascots when necessary.
Track social media metrics from week to week and month to month for end of season reporting.
Develop unique ways to engage and grow the Pelicans fan base while enhancing overall fan experience through social media, in-game promotions, and other events.
Be available to field front desk phone calls & answer inbound fan messages on various social media channels.
Interview, hire, and manage a game day promotional team
Schedule and coordinate ballpark tours.
Be a positive brand ambassador and represent the Pelicans and our partners in a professional manner at all times.
All other duties assigned... like: taking the bat dog home, researching and learning the next viral dance, picking up VIPs from the airport, and tarp pulls (yay!).
By the end of the internship you will:
Understand, in-depth, the various interworking of departments that comprise a front office of a sports team
Understand the culture of the Pelicans' front office and how it leads to our success on and off the field
Add additional elements to your professional portfolio
Have gained valuable networking opportunities
Have gained experience in managing both people and events
Receive potential job placement assistance based on performance
Interns are preferable of college senior status or employee eligible, meaning able to accept a full-time job upon completion of the internship.

A strong interest and desire to work in the sports industry.
A wide range of majors are encouraged to apply, but most of our applicants are a part of communications, recreation/ tourism, and sport management majors.
Interns should be able to perform physically demanding aspects of the job.
Interns must be willing to dedicate 40-100 hours per week to their internship, including all home games and ballpark events.
Interns must be able to start at the beginning of February on a full-time basis.
A working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite.
A working knowledge of social media management tools (ex: Hootsuite, Sprout Social, etc).
Prior experience in Minor League Baseball (or a similar position) is preferred.
This is a seasonal position that will conclude in September.
Compensation for this position is $1000.00/month.
