Business Relationship Manager
(Senior Business Advisor)
The Business Relationship Manager (BRM) partners with Information Technology and business leaders to stimulate, surface, and share strategy and demand for IT solutions and assets. Ensures delivery of information technology solutions that generate business value and confirms that the results are measured and communicated. Provides collaborative or consultative work of varying complexity in areas of business related strategic direction and support, problem resolution, and business planning for assigned customer/business group(s). Directs use of appropriate processes and procedures that are effective and meet general business requirements. Coordinates, plans and executes solutions to meet needs of clients, work teams and/or internal or external organization management groups. May collaborate and/or coordinate with cross functional teams.
The Business Relationship Manager is a senior level position that requires an experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and a high level of experience and proficiency in the field.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Create robust business relationships with clients by thoroughly understanding how they operate and ensuring that IT delivers timely and value driven solutions that solve business challenges.
Coach business partners and enable them to articulate the technology needs and requirements in their function that will advance business performance.
Interface with business areas to shape demand, including understanding the business requirements, justification, and priority of an initiative and work with IT teams to initiate the requests for projects.
Anticipate client needs and identify client requirements by establishing personal rapport with clients and internal/external resources to understand business requirements.
Provide high level consulting services to clients in order to evaluate, recommend, design and implement solutions and process improvements.
Advise clients on best practices and how to implement the necessary changes to address business needs. May prepare recommended alternatives. Reviews and assesses necessary data to be used in addressing the client’s business needs.
Identify emerging technology trends and communicate these trends to clients.
Partner with business leaders on pre-project ideation.
Partner with enterprise architects to develop technology enablement business capability roadmaps.
Partner with business analysts to ensure that essential business requirements are understood, captured, and reflected in solution documentation.
Provides strategic guidance and support to clients and leaders in complex situations.
Leads process improvement and long term solution discussions and presents outcomes in executive-level written and verbal format to senior management.
Oversees initial project development surrounding new processes and integration of new processes with existing ones. Communicates these changes to impacted clients and other resources.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree and equivalent experience with 5+ years of relevant work experience in Information Technology.
Solid understanding of services typically provided by a central IT organization. Knowledge of department/business lines, Reserve Banks, and/or System operations, policies, procedures, and technologies.
Highly developed oral and written communication abilities, including the ability to prepare and deliver executive-level presentations to a senior audience. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, influence, creativity, attention to detail, and oral and written communications skills.
Ability to understand and apply risk management discipline in decision making, and contributing to his or her function’s risk management.
Ability to work under the direction and guidance in planning details of procedures and methods to attain definite objectives. Makes decisions within established or widely accepted standards. Achieves assigned/planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, training, business principles, and practical experience.
- Other/Preferred Requirements:
BRMP or CBRM Certification Preferred. Candidates with the ability to obtain BRMP Certification within a year will be considered.

Proven ability to listen, build rapport, and credibility as a strategic partner vertically within the business unit or function, as well as with leadership and functional teams.

Will require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.
Requires some degree of sitting (for prolonged periods of time), standing, lifting carrying, pushing, pulling less than 20 lbs.
Hours of Work:
May require extended work hours. Occasional travel including overnight stays may be necessary.

The hiring range is $90,000-$112,500 annually.
The market range is $90,000-$146,300 annually.
