The Photographer will advance the Eskenazi Museum of Art’s mission by providing digital photographic documentation of more than 45,000 works in the collection. This position will also provide visual images of the museum’s activities and exhibitions and capture a variety of audiences being engaged with art. The Photographer will compile and maintain a digital photographic archive for publication, research, marketing, and other uses.

Required Qualifications
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in photography or equivalent course work in museum studies, art history, or fine arts.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

Attention to detail, as well as experience using high-end digital camera systems and studio set ups, including lighting. Digital color correction skills using Macintosh platform computers, Photoshop, and digital processing software. Basic understanding of metadata practices and digital file management. Ability to be flexible and work well independently and as part of a team. Confidence in working with donors, the public, and co-workers in a professional manner.

Preferred Qualifications
Master of Fine Arts degree in photography. Two years of art photography experience in a museum or other cultural heritage institutional studio setting. Familiarity with the history of art. Knowledge of professional development and advancements in digital and electronic technology for museum-based studio photography. Familiarity with content and digital asset management systems, such as The Museum System (TMS) and Piction. Experience handling art objects. Experience in shooting video of events and activities.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds when carrying or positioning equipment and other objects.

Salary Range $35,000 - $38,000 Salary Plan PAE Salary Grade 2PR FLSA Exempt Work Location
