JOB TITLE: Rotating Equipment Mechanic / Millwright

JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled tasks in dismantling, inspecting, diagnosing defects, repairing, servicing, and assembling rotating equipment that is serviced and repaired by company. This job will also include field service work where tasks would be to remove and install rotating equipment, perform alignment and preventive maintenance tasks.
JOB DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Perform field service work on an as needed basis.
- Alignment of machine trains with dial indicators and/or laser alignment tool.
- Performs DCI (dismantle, clean, and inspect) on rotating equipment. Completes all necessary inspection forms, writes comments of conditions found and develops parts list. Assembles different rotating equipment types.
- Documents all findings of an inspection during initial/final inspection.
- Operates balance machine, air tools, power tools, hydraulic press, air compressor, sandblast unit, forklifts, overhead and gantry cranes and cutting tools such as a band saw and torch.
- Uses different measuring devices such as, micrometer (OD/ID), vernier calipers, scales, standards, etc.
- Performs preventative maintenance on machine tools, sandblast unit, air compressor and power tools.
- Performs record keeping and maintains files on preventative maintenance work performed.
- Assists with periodic safety inspections; identifies and corrects safety hazards.
- Responds to emergency calls for service on a call-out basis and works outside normal working hours as needed.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Complies with all safety procedures, quality policies, specifications, and instructions.
Knowledge of:
– Practices, procedures, tools and materials used in the repair of rotating equipment as used in the Oil & Gas, Pipeline, Power and Water Industries
– Occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to the repair of rotating equipment
Ability to:
– Read and follow work orders and instructions
– Read and interpret plans/drawings, specifications, repair manuals and inspection findings
– Use a variety of test instruments, power/air/hydraulic tools and hand tools
– Respond quickly to critical situations, and carry out work assignments as instructed
– Maintain accurate records
– Communicate effectively orally and in writing
– Establish and maintain cooperative work relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: Five (5) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of rotating equipment
PHYSICAL TASK & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
The incumbent must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job and have mobility, balance, coordination, vision, hearing, and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed. Work involves exposure to potential physical harm, dangerous machinery, hazardous chemicals, and potentially infectious disease. There is a frequent need to stand, sit, stoop, walk, climb, and balance, lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform other physical activities during the course of the workday. Must utilize approved safety equipment and protective gear including but not limited to hard hats, respirators and/or hearing protective devices. The majority of the work is performed indoors, with some outdoor assignments that will expose one to wind, rain, sun, and varying temperatures.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
