Microsoft Research provides a collaborative and dynamic environment for some of the world’s best researchers and engineers. We are looking for a motivated and energetic engineer with a passion for building systems, but also an avid learner who is willing to occasionally dive into the world of AI and machine learning.
Our engineering culture is creative, dynamic and inclusive. This research/developer position involves working with researchers and developers in a start-up-like environment. Team members are encouraged to explore innovative ideas, implement them iteratively to learn quickly, and collaborate with product groups to test them in the wild. Successful candidates will be expected to transform research ideas into concrete system architectures and implementations. There will also be opportunities to collaborate with Microsoft’s major product groups, such as Bing, Dynamics 365, Azure, and Office.
A PhD in Computer Science or in a related discipline.
At least 3 publications in peer-reviewed CS conferences/journals.
Strong software development skills in one or more of Python, Java/C#, C/C++.
2+ years of experience with deep learning in PyTorch or Tensorflow/Keras.
Strong problem solving and data analysis skills.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Experience with reinforcement learning and/or NLP techniques (e.g., word embeddings, transformers, LSTMs, etc.).
Web development experience.
