Pacific Rail Services is hiring immediately for entry level Rail Yard Operators to join our team in a recession proof industry working at the CSX Springfield, MA Rail Terminal! We'll teach you everything you need to know in order to be successful on the job. This is a full time permanent position with on the job training.
You will be employed directly by Pacific Rail Services and will not be considered an employee of the Railroad.
What You'll Do:
- This role combines the responsibilities of a Hostler Driver and Ground Person. You will learn to operate a jockey truck, maneuvering 53ft trailers, containers, and chassis around the rail yard.
- Engage in various ground duties, including climbing on and off railcars, securing tracks, and handling inner box connectors (IBC's).
- Assist crane operators with equipment loading and unloading using hand signals.
- Play a key role in stacking and unstacking chassis, as well as loading and unloading chassis racks.
- Fulfill other assigned duties in a dynamic and team-oriented work environment.

Shift Start Time:
- 4am shift or the 2pm shift
- 10 to 12hr days
- 55+hr work weeks
Starting Rate of Pay:
- $18.00/hr to start
- Once you are trained and up to speed and can operate a Hostler on your own without assistance, your pay will increase to $19.00/hr
- $50,000-$65,000 in your first year with overtime factored in!

Applicants for this position must meet the general requirements for employment with the company, according to the Company hiring process which include:
- Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid Driver's License
- Must submit to a 7-year background check, pass a drug test and pass a Physical Capabilities Test.
