Headquartered in Ipswich, MA, EIS employs more than 3,300 people worldwide. We are the leader in our field due to our cutting-edge technology, forward-thinking philosophy, and top-notch workforce. EBSCO is a company that will motivate you, inspire you, and allow you to grow. We are looking for the best. If you are too, we encourage you to explore our unique opportunities.
The EBSCO Strategy Internship program is a cross-functional business experience for college students who want to rapidly learn & contribute to the development of real business strategy through research, experimentation, and execution.
Strategy Interns who join the EBSCO Information Services (‘EBSCO’) Strategy team will be held to a very high standard – they are or will become expert researchers, sharp communicators, contrarian thinkers (‘red-teamers’), and most importantly of all, servant leaders. They will ask hard but respectful questions, build relationships through mutual respect, and lead from a place of humility with a deep sense of mission.
Strategy Interns will report to the Senior Strategy Analyst in the Strategy team, and will be mentored, coached, and taught to contribute valuable insights to business strategy across any of EBSCO’s many segments. Topics of focus may include, strategy development, strategic planning, business development / Mergers & Acquisitions, strategic partnerships, red teaming, and strategic projects.
Strategy Interns are highly curious, with a large capacity to learn. They are creative, but also structured and organized so that they can work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a larger team. They make connections from disparate data sets and share meaningful insights & takeaways for others to leverage. They are excellent critical thinkers: they break a problem down to components; consistently noting the differences between facts, opinions, assumptions and beliefs. They have a strong interest in our end-users and customers, and how our products and services should help them.
Strategy Interns, along with all members of the Strategy team, must be natural truth seekers and raise thoughtful questions around any assumption or belief that may not be backed up with solid data, analyses, research, or logical reasoning. They seek to understand the “Why” for key business questions & decisions and most of all exhibit courage, willing to speak up and ask the hard questions of themselves and others.
What you’ll do
As a new member of the Strategy team you will have the opportunity to learn what a company’s business strategy looks like behind the curtain, and you will be expected to capture key learnings while abiding by strict confidentiality.
You will work closely with the Senior Strategy Analyst, Senior Director of Strategic Research, and other leaders in the Strategy team. You will also have meet and collaborate with many teams across EBSCO, including but not limited to leaders from Finance, Product Management, Platform & Technology, Sales/Marketing, Customer Satisfaction, Customer Operations, Business Operations, HR, and more.
You will be challenged to take on important strategy projects to further EBSCO’s mission of “transforming lives by providing reliable, relevant information when, where, and how people need it.” Such projects may involve the full spectrum of analysis and research, including: breaking problems down to the right questions, collecting data and facts, testing / questioning critical assumptions, analyzing research, setting up surveys and focus groups, and finally communicating and presenting your findings to leaders of EBSCO.
Strategy Interns play an important role in showing EBSCO how to think critically and strategically.
