Parallel Products is seeking a Transportation Planner to optimize their transportation and logistics program. We are seeking an exceptional professional with 5+ years of diversified logistics experience in the transportation industry that includes management of rail, truck, tanker, and cargo carrier types of service. While the company has an existing and effective logistics management program, our volumes have increased to the point that we need to add coordination staff for this part of the business. Understanding of, and prior experience with shopping transport lanes and various shipping needs (i.e.: USCustoms bond, hazardous, etc.), is required.
This person’s role will be to set up and maintain shipping lanes with national and international carriers, coordinate and manage the scheduling of a high volume of shipments to our nationwide network of processing facilities. Other duties include responsibility for negotiating mutually beneficial rates and terms with major and minor carriers, optimizing relationships and contracts and engaging in the development of bids for service. The Transportation Planner will interact with customers as well as carriers. Therefore, professionalism, writing and communication skills, and integrity must be unquestionable. This person will maintain and report critical analysis to senior management.
The work requires both a high degree of independence and collaboration between various production, sales, and customer service personnel.
