Gwinnett Health System, an integrated two hospital system, with outpatient clinics is seeking a dynamic, motivated Director of Clinical laboratories and Pathology. Provides leadership for planning, management implementation and coordination of the two hospital CAP accredited clinical laboratories. Makes recommendations for new services, capital equipment purchases and overall direction of the department. This position may also include directing or coordination with outreach sales, couriers and logistics, outreach draw sites, external clients, and business development.
The Director, Laboratory Services is responsible for the overall operation, leadership, direction, and administration of all Gwinnett Health System clinical laboratory and pathology services providing hospitals, physicians and outpatient clinics with timely diagnostic information for patient care. By directing laboratory managers and supervisors at multiple locations, the Director ensures accurate and timely support of clinical services. The incumbent is also responsible for development and implementation of new tests, processes and best practices and the procurement of required personnel, equipment and materials. The Director ensures cross-campus collaboration and where appropriate, standardization, of laboratory processes and ensures coordination of laboratory services with Nurses, the medical staff and administration initiatives. The Director also empowers local level management to ensure service excellence delivery at the local entity. The Director ensures that quality control and quality assurance programs are established and maintained. The Director ensures appropriate financial oversight and development of a budget. The Director oversees the development of the laboratory service line's plans and programs in evaluation of long-range planning and regulatory action on operational performance. The Director fosters a unified culture and promotes a process for collaboration, cooperation, sharing of information and mutual teamwork. The Director ensures the CAP accreditation and compliance with all applicable State and Federal regulations.
The qualified candidate will have met the State of Georgia Laws of Licensure of Clinical Laboratories and have a Medical Technology (MT) and (ASCP) registry or other approved registry. Bachelor's degree in appropriate field for Laboratory Services. A Master's degree is preferred. At least 3 years experience in management of a laboratory in a hospital or healthcare facility of similar size and scope. At least 10 years experience as a medical technologist providing laboratory services in a hospital or similar healthcare setting. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
