Environmental Communications and Outreach Internship (S18-057)
The intern supports Environmental Services in developing communication materials for diverse audiences, monitoring and providing content for social media channels, assisting with outreach events, and helping develop a positive community of environmental stakeholders within the company and beyond.
Some things you can expect to work on during this internship:
Create, edit, and publish content for PGE’s environmental social media channel and monthly e-newsletters
Accompany staff to document and photograph/film field work
Monitor PGE news, relevant social media discussion and other online content; identify communication gaps
Support the team during outreach events, discuss PGE environmental programs with public stakeholders
Organize Environmental Services outreach materials, including photos and other resources
Update webpages and other outreach materials to ensure quality and accuracy
Develop, design, and write communications for environmental services (short articles, flyers, etc.)
Actively participate in training activities and intern development opportunities, as assigned.
To be considered, you must have the following:
High school diploma plus at least one year of college-level coursework in environmental science, biology, writing, communications, journalism, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Interest in and basic knowledge of issues related to fish and wildlife, water quality, energy, environmental stewardship, or hydropower
Knowledge of social media (including business purpose and strategy)
Knowledge of writing conventions (e.g. AP style)
Knowledge of computer systems and communications software, including Microsoft office, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
Basic knowledge of utility industry (preferred)

Internship positions typically begins in June through the end of September.
To be eligible for PGE’s Summer Internship program, you must be at least 18 years old as of June 1, 2019 and have met one of the following criteria:
A high school senior who has enrolled in a college or trade school
A current college or trade school student who is returning to college or a trade school in the fall of 2019 as a full-time student
A recent 2018 – 2019 college graduate
