The Commons, located in Minneapolis, is the headquarters of Allina Health, a not-for-profit health care organization serving patients and communities. Approximately 1,600 corporate and administrative service employees work at offices within Midtown Exchange, the site of the historic Sears retail complex at Chicago Avenue and E. Lake Street. This community landmark, adjacent to the campus of Abbott Northwestern Hospital, part of Allina Health, is the second largest building in Minnesota and includes offices, an internationally themed public market and residential units.
Greet patient in a respectful, warm, and professional manner by phone and in-person. Follow appropriate processes to collect demographic and insurance information in system while maintaining accuracy. Document issues and resolutions in Excellian Account Notes as necessary.
Complete eligibility query using electronic resources or phone. Identify benefits via electronic resources/phone, interpret results and enter into Excellian. Verify insurance information through Healthia and other various insurance websites.
Explain copays, coinsurance, and/or deductible to patient(s) and collect on financial obligation owed at time of service. Determine patient need for financial counseling and explain resources available to patient. Respond to basic questions about Allina’s financial assistance programs. Refer patient to PAS-Senior as necessary.
Must be able to push a computer on wheels (WOW)
High school diploma or GED
One year of customer service experience. One year of general office experience and/or is currently enrolled in a school program. Proficient with computers and programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Proven strong customer service skills with an exceptional ability to listen and communicate to others. Experience in a team orientated environment essential.
Work in a fast-paced environment.
Handle and manage financial payments.
Develop rapport with a wide variety of customers in a short timeframe.
Demonstrate basic knowledge of English language in both verbal and written context.
Self-motivate and multi-task in an effective manner that includes organizing and prioritizing the work.

32 hours a week guaranteed.
You will be asked to work a variety of shifts during the two week pay period. The shifts can be 630a-3p, 7a-330p, 1130a-8p, 230p-11p, 3p-1130p or the overnight shift that starts at 10p or 1030p. You can work more shifts if desired and hours are available.
Training will be full-time Monday-Friday for three weeks from 8:30am-4pm. The first three weeks of training will be on the Allina campus in South Minneapolis. Training will be discussed during interview. Applicant must be available to attend all training sessions as each one builds on the previous class
