As a member of the Software Engineering team focused on testing, you are expected to think critically about what level of testing (none, manual, automated) makes sense for each change the team is working on. The result of testing should be valuable feedback to engineers and product managers concerning the change's likelihood of defectiveness and confidence level of correctness.

Ideally, you are passionate about creating solutions (involving automate testing, manual testing and good process) that allow us to release our software confidently and quickly. When forced to choose between getting it done, and doing it right, you aren't afraid to take the extra time to get it done the right way. You want to continue to grow in your craft and think automated tests should be treated like production quality software. You like working within a team. This role will report into the Manager of Business Applications.

THE ROLE (what you are accountable for)

Create and maintain tests to ensure product quality
Design and implement tests, debug, and define corrective action(s)
Responsible for conducting tests before product launch to ensure software runs smoothly
Plan, create, maintain, and execute manual tests of software functionality, load, and performance
Become an expert in our products and how they function
Partner with site operations, development, and user experience teams to understand desired functionality and create test cases for validating customer experience across browsers and operating systems
Utilize a test case management tool to capture and execute all test cases and test suites
Advocate for QA techniques and philosophies to be integrated into other business unit areas to improve downstream QA testing
Provide quality stop gate and advise technical/functional teams on readiness of code to push to production
Experience as a QA tester monitoring and executing tests through a full lifecycle for web-based applications and preferably e-commerce or consumer facing web sites, from requirements gathering to deployment
Author and execute test cases and suites as part of regular production release cadence.
Experience with building regression tests
Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail
Strong familiarity with web technologies, browsers, operating systems, and mobile devices
Ability to review functional/technical specifications with a focus on testability and quality improvements
Passion for aligning quality goals to business goals
Proven success working collaboratively within cross-functional and distributed teams based on strong team spirit, solid work ethic and good communication skills
Experience in retail or general understanding of flow of point of sell

YOU ARE:

REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems (or equivalent) required
3+ years experience with quality assurance practices and testing methodologies
Experience with developing, executing, and maintaining automated test scripts
Good business understanding and ability to discuss testing scenarios with business counterparts

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Prior experience supporting retail, wholesale, accounting or e-commerce systems for a retail company
Knowledge of the Atlassian toolset, especially JIRA
A passion for exploratory and automated testing
Must have experience writing queries against relational databases like MySQL
Experience with at least one programming or scripting languages like Ruby, Java
Must be comfortable testing on various sets of devices and platform
API testing experience a plus
E-commerce experience a plus
