We are currently seeking a Full Time Maintenance Worker to join our team!
Position Summary: Under general direction, performs cleaning and minor maintenance duties in maintaining the shop and shipping/receiving area, walkways, grounds, and equipment in clean, orderly and functional condition. Provides assistance to staff, visitors and others as necessary.
Functions and Responsibilities:
Receives requests and maintains regular routine cleaning and maintenance duties.
Performs work according to standard procedure by standard schedule and operational needs.
Cleans and maintains all work areas in shop departments, ensuring functional and operational readiness at all times.
Maintains floor maintenance by ensuring they are swept, clean and free of debris or sawdust.
Cleans restrooms, breakroom, offices, stairways, locker areas, loading docks, and other areas as needed.
Uses brooms, mops, and floor equipment to sweep, mop, polish and otherwise maintain floor cleanliness and safety.
Cleans, polishes and assists with shop equipment ensuring optimal working conditions.
Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors and sills as needed to ensure optimal cleanliness.
Empties trash containers routinely and throughout the day.
Maintains and vacuums finish room socks, vents and filters.
Replenishes restroom supplies, lightbulbs, first aid supplies, filters, and other supplies as needed.
Clears snow from entrances and walkways, salting and clearing debris as needed, ensuring safe conditions.
Ensures all maintenance supplies are clearly marked and utilized according to manufacturer specifications.
Follows applicable safety rules and procedures at all times.
Ensuring safe handling and operations of materials, tools, forklift and vehicles.
Continuously implements preventative maintenance and maintains routine inspections as required.
Provide backup to shipping and receiving staff, performing deliveries and picking up materials as needed.
Additional duties and tasks as assigned
Understanding and adherence to safety requirements and standards.
Ability to read and interpret written labeling, instructions and MSDS requirements for cleaning supplies.
Ability to initiate and complete projects with limited supervision.
Ability to work as a team and interact well with co-workers, other SSM staff and vendors.
Ability follow verbal and/or written instructions.
Ability to operate equipment responsibly.
On call for snow plowing and removal, facility emergencies or other situations as needed.
Education, Experience and Requirements:
High school Diploma or equivalent
Must meet driving record requirements to operate company vehicle (if applicable).
Forklift Operation Certification preferred, may be obtained upon hire
Prior experience in facility maintenance preferred
Knowledge of light plumbing, electrical and carpentry preferred.
