Winona County is seeking part-time or full-time, seasonal intern(s) to work one-on-one with county landowners on eradication of invasive species that pose an imminent threat to area woodlands and forests.
The position requires physical stamina, as it is all outdoor work, using hand tools and herbicide to eradicate oriental bittersweet, knotweed and poison hemlock. Intern(s) will also participate as a team member in a public campaign to educate all county residents on how to successfully eradicate these invasives on their own.
Candidate(s) qualifications include a strong work ethic, the ability to work collaboratively with others, and an understanding of, and interest in, the natural world. Outdoor work experience will be valued, and familiarity with rural Winona County is helpful, but not essential.
The position pays $16 per hour, and will run from July through October, 2018. This posting will remain open until a suitable candidate for the position has been selected.
