The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for leading major platform level NPD and systems integration projects that are highly complex, both technically and program wise. This individual possesses a thorough multi-disciplinary comprehension of the NPD process, and is competent across four or more of the company’s technologies or product lines. This role reports to the Manager Engineering, but functions independently.
Specific Job Function:
Develop, execute, disseminate, document, and make decisions from technical studies
Routinely apply engineering fundamentals to perform hand calculations to support design decisions
Perform CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations, analyze and utilize outputs to optimize product design and maximize fluid flow efficiencies.
Simultaneously manage multiple projects throughout all phases of the development process
Coordinate interdepartmental meetings to capture and track the required cross-functional activities
Develop & maintain project schedules, and drive projects to meet critical milestone commitments
Develop project budgets and product cost targets. Track and maintain project financials ensure BOM and project budget targets are achieved
Work with purchasing, suppliers, and quality engineers to communicate requirements and insure parts and products meet specifications and are approved
Develop and implement risk mitigation action plans when critical requirements (technical/functional, manufacture ability, supply, cost, schedule, etc) are in jeopardy
Oversee pilot runs to insure products are properly manufactured and in quantity to meet test needs
Oversee validation/approval processes to insure key specs and performance requirements are met
Develop and present reports on project status summaries, risks, and recommended actions
Insure products are properly released and commercialized via document control process
Perform follow-on analysis and reporting after 6-12 months of production to insure key requirements are maintained or realized
Bachelors of Science degree in engineering; Masters of Science in Engineering or other advanced degree is preferred
Accreditation or training in Project Management
Accreditation in DFSS and DFM is desired
8+ years of engineering experience (including 5+ engineering design and 3+ project management) developing new products involving mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electrical design.
Proven history leading four or more product development projects, from concept to launch. Water treatment or fluid handling product launches are preferred.
Experience with discipline specific design tools such as SolidWorks or PCB layout
Proficiency with MS Project advanced scheduling capabilities
Experience with hands-on prototype, build and test in a laboratory environment
Able to speak with technical competence to any audience (internally and externally), and to professionally represent the company to customers and organizations on the outside.
Up to 30% travel including: domestic and international trips to commission or troubleshoot installed products at customer locations, vendor part approvals, etc.
