The Principal of Data Architecture will drive evolution of the next generation data strategy for the enterprise. The Principal will assess the current data ecosystem, work with key stakeholders to understand strategic needs, and define a target state data architecture. The Principal will lead the design, and development of required proof of concept for each new data capability and ensure alignment to functional and non-functional requirements. The Principal with interact with a multi-disciplinary team of analysts, data scientists, developers, and business users to comprehend the data requirements to develop a robust data processing pipeline that will ingest, manipulate, normalize very large amount of data to support advanced analytics. Finally, the Principal will enable a cloud strategy for the data and achieve direct business value while reducing overall cost and risks.


  • Design the next gen data strategy encompassing data integration, Master Data Management (MDM), vending, reporting and analytics and Enterprise Data Lake (EDL)
  • Create, publish and socialize patterns for data integration, processing and vending
  • Leverage industry standards and insights to deliver pragmatic data solutions to customer needs
  • Educate senior and executive management on data topics
  • Develop strategies for data migration, data security, data recovery and data availability including failover
  • Collaborate with project managers, team members, customer representatives and other technology experts and vendors in the design, evaluation, selection, implementation and support of initiatives
  • Recommend technologies that would be part of the approved technology stack for application development
  • Stay informed of up-to-date and emerging technologies and determine use for business needs



  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required


  • 8+ years of related experience


  • Big-4 experience a plus
  • Experience with developing solution architecture across multiple architecture domains such as business, data, integration, and application
  • Experience with data integration, data streaming, event-driven architecture, compute, vending and MDM patterns
  • Hands-on experience defining and driving an enterprise data architecture strategy, methodology and standards that creates an enterprise data model, associated meta model, common business vocabulary and taxonomies
  • Hands on experience with emerging technologies such as cloud computing, Data Lake and big data, S3, EMR, and RedShift.
  • Proficient in the following technologies

o Database technologies (SQL Server, AWS RDS, NoSQL, Oracle,)

o Cloud, data warehouse, Big Data and BI solutions (Netezza, Redshift, Tableau, Alteryx, Hadoop)

o SOA, ESB and ETL technologies (Business Objects, Informatica, API Gateway)

  • Exposure to large-scale enterprise-level data centric projects
  • Good understanding of NoSQL data stores, Hadoop, MDM, Data Modeling across relational, star/dimensional and other emerging approaches
  • Knowledge of advanced analytics concepts in data science and applying machine learning and statistical models on large data sets
  • Hands on experience establishing patterns for and designing data services and API’s
  • Understanding of SOA concepts, design patterns and best practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrate ability to influence and advocate point of view
  • Ability to work in a teaming environment; strong organization and interpersonal skills
  • TOGAF or an equivalent architecture framework certification is preferred
  • AWS or Cloud based Architecture certification is preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $150,000.00 to $220,000.00 /year
