Abilities, Inc. at The Viscardi Center is a nonprofit organization located on Long Island that prepares adolescents and adults with disabilities for entry into the workforce through job training, placement services, career counseling, and much more.
The incumbent will be responsible to:
Provide support services to youth and adults, including travel training, job development and matching for volunteer jobs, skill training and re-training at the job site, social integration, communication skills, hygiene and grooming, money skills, safety skills, leisure activities, ongoing assessment, and consumer advocacy.
Provide continuous communication to the Program Supervisor regarding assignments, including but not limited to communications with referral sources, issues regarding consumers, need for additional hours.
Act as liaison between staff, Service Coordinators, volunteer sites, parents and the individuals being served.
Complete paperwork accurately and timely (daily, weekly or monthly as required) including: case notes, staff activity logs, timesheets, all other correspondences regarding the case, Individualized Day habilitation plans, and expense reports.
Update and maintain all consumer files.
Attend meetings on a monthly basis, or as required.
Ability to work flexible hours when necessary. Flexibility in traveling throughout Long Island and the New York Metropolitan area is also required.
All other duties that may be required for efficient, effective delivery of services.
Education & Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent and two years of experience working with people with disabilities in a vocational setting. The position requires computer proficiency. Valid NYS Driver License required.
