Job Summary
The Human Resources Associate role is an integral part of the Human Resources team, ensuring general new hire compliance and responding to employee needs through our customer support channel. The starting salary range for this role is $50,312-$57,765. This is a full-time role based at KIPP DC's Headquarters office with an anticipated start date of October 1, 2024.

About the team
At KIPP DC, our Human Resources Generalist team manages all aspects of the employee life cycle including new hire compliance, onboarding, supporting employees during their tenure, and offboarding. We provide consistent and accurate guidance, resources, and policies to all staff so that they can be empowered to support each other, our students, and our community.
About the Role
The Human Resources (HR) Associate will be responsible for supporting the Human Resources Department in a variety of manners. The HR Associate’s main responsibilities will focus on full management of KIPP DC’s background checks, staff ID’s, I-9 verifications, compliance training, employment verifications, Zendesk system for employee inquiries, and providing general HR support. The HR Associate is an exempt position and will report to the Director of Human Resources.
Location and Type of Work
As a headquarters team that is focused on being responsive to our schools and meeting the needs of our students and families, we approach our work in a way that reflects these priorities. Schools operate in person and our students and families rely on us for in-person support, and this position will regularly provide on-site support to school teams, frequently partner with other headquarters teams, or regularly work in multiple locations. Because of the nature of the work, this role allows for
occasional flexibility. This role will have approximately 20% flexibility to work remotely.
Responsibilities
Manage daily employee inquiries and support - 40%

Provide exceptional customer service by answering employee and vendor requests or questions accurately and in a timely manner; ensuring each request is completed with thoroughness and follow-through.

Ensure our case management system (Zendesk) is up to date and tickets are closed in a timely manner.

Support in managing the background check process for all KIPP DC employees, ensuring all trackers are up to date, following up with employees who have not submitted background checks, processing reimbursements, and providing regular updates to HR leaders.

Manage and process I-9 verifications for all incoming employees, ensuring I-9’s are verified within three days of employment for new employees.

Complete employment verifications accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring service level agreements are met.

Assist with weekly and monthly HR, compliance and internal audits of various HR processes.
Onboarding and Offboarding - 40%

Support the processing of new hires, terminations, benefit enrollments, and employee job changes

Conduct and analyze stay/exit interviews, and assist in developing recommendations to maximize employee engagement and retention.

Assist with weekly new hire orientation and employee onboarding, ensuring all new KIPP DC staff members have a positive onboarding experience.

Manage the staff ID process for all incoming and existing employees. Create, print, and document staff ID prints and reprints. Work closely with the operations team to ensure employees receive their reprinted ID’s in a timely manner.

Ensure employee data is accurately entered into various HR systems, including Workday (KIPP DC’s HRIS System).
General Support - 20%

Assist with HR programs, projects, and other special events.

Liaise with the Payroll team to ensure payroll is notified of changes/updates (new hires, terms, leave, etc.) in a timely manner.

Assist in the coordination and dissemination of information among the HR team and other KIPP DC team members

Assist with project coordination activities on various projects throughout the year.

Serve as a full-time and engaged member of KIPP DC’s staff.
Requirements & Preferences
Required Qualifications:-
Bachelor’s Degree or 2 years of Human Resources experience
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in non-profit and/or K-12 setting

Experience administering HRIS systems such as Workday

Technological proficiency, ability to quickly learn software systems such as Brivo and Zendesk

Proficiency in Google Suite, including strong proficiency in Google sheets
Physical Requirements:

Ability to travel across KIPP DC schools and throughout Washington, DC.

Occasional flexibility to work outside normal business hours or weekends for KIPP DC events.

Currently, individuals in this role have up to 15 paid time off days, up to 10 paid sick days, and 12 paid holidays. This is subject to change and your exact schedule will be shared in your offer letter.
