Executive Director, Verizon Business Group (VBG) GL&D Team
This is a high-impact role focused on leading the evolution of our VBG learning strategy including the development and execution of VBG’s upskilling/reskilling strategy that is aligned with our strategic workforce plan and, by design, will enable significant business transformation and drive revenue and growth. The Executive Director will be a learning thought leader, strategist and architect. The Executive Director will lead a team of GL&D leaders and their organizations, and will work collaboratively with business leaders and HRBP’s across all VBG sales and customer support channels (small/medium business, telesales, public sector, global enterprise, professional services, service management, client management, customer service, outsource partners, etc.), product development, marketing, sales enablement, operations and employee communications.
This position will report to the VP-Global Learning & Development and will be responsible for guiding the overall direction for the VBG GL&D team of 212 FTE’s, including the design, development and delivery of learning experiences and solutions for the global VBG organization including 24k+ employees in 50+ countries, 2k+ external learners and customers. Responsibilities to include the following:
Develop VBG Learning Strategy including upskilling/reskilling and learning culture transformation strategies and tactics, and then bring strategy from concept to reality
Lead and architect sales & customer support channels upskilling/reskilling initiatives that are critical for the realization of our strategic workforce plan. Work in partnership with HRBPs and channel leaders. Work includes capability identification and assessment; gap analysis; learning journey design, development and delivery; and learning effectiveness evaluation
Drive change and innovation through an articulate, inspiring vision while acting as an expert learning consultant and trusted advisor to the business
Create a highly collaborative environment with all constituents: business and channel leaders, HRBP’s and GL&D team members
Oversee VBG Sales & Support Learning Experience Design & Delivery Execution teams responsible for new to role onboarding, upskilling/reskilling, product/technology training, systems & tools training, functional leadership development and customer training
Leverage innovative learning technologies and modalities to advance the scale and effectiveness of all learning experiences
Partner with best-in-class industry and technology providers where external sales, service and/or learning frameworks are needed
Use industry standard Learning Effectiveness methods to ensure all learning solutions add value by delivering desired behavior change and business outcomes
Advance the performance consulting capabilities of the VBG GL&D team and continuously evolve emerging learning capabilities such as learning journey development, storytelling, content curation, etc.
Lead all facets of the GL&D team employee life cycle (Recruiting, Performance, Development, Career, Compensation) to ensure a high performing, engaged, diverse and inclusive team
What we’re looking for...
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. Master’s degree preferred
Eight (8) plus years of experience in sales and customer support training, program development and leadership including application of adult learning principles
Experience building/delivering best-in-class professional sales and customer support learning experiences at scale, overseeing learning experience design (learning architecture, learning journeys, curriculum development, content curation, online performance support) and experience with evaluating learning effectiveness
Strong strategic skills, with the ability to identify and assess key points, implications and recommendations; proven ability to structure storytelling and business cases around a high-level strategic vision
Demonstrated success in a business sales or business sales enablement role
Proven people leader with experience leading a large team of learning professionals and demonstrated ability to develop and influence others
Strong consulting skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution
Proven expertise with influencing key stakeholders and senior leaders through relationships, expertise and data
Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead in a highly matrixed environment
Executive presence and proven ability to establish and maintain rapport with people of diverse backgrounds and professional levels
Strong business acumen with broad understanding of business operations
Insightful, forward thinker; change agent
Strong organizational and project management skills
Proven oral, presentation and written communication skills
Previous experience supporting global client groups preferred
