The System Engineer will use his/her knowledge of COTS and understanding of McMurdo product lines to provide technical and product support primarily in pre-sales, production, delivery, and post-sales situations. This position is a key contributor to meeting business goals, ensuring consistent product support and management of product life-cycles.
Be intimately familiar with our software and systems integration based product lines so as to be able to design, critique and train on solutions that will be delivered to the customer.
In collaboration with project management, sales & marketing, and product engineering, contribute to the construction of specific technical offers and proposals by understanding customer requirements to includeour company product lines, COTS hardware and software, network design, and specialized hardware (satellite antennas, radars, cameras, software defined radios etc.)
The development and collaborative vetting of technical documentation to include customer facing technical manuals and guides for operations and maintenance
Providing technical expertise / assistance, via remote access if needed, to timely answer customers’ or partners’ questions for deployed installation and maintenance teams around the globe.
Provide support to the Customer Support team in response to tier three (3) customer trouble tickets regarding networks, firewalls, IT security, operating systems and our delivered solutions.
Provide training to Customer Support team members and peers
Work collaboratively with product development, engineering release management and Infrastructure teams in developing building/packaging/deployment processes for new product releases.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
BS in Math, EE, CS, CE, or similar field or equivalent technical training or experience in advanced systems in lieu of degree.
Minimum of 8 years of experience with integrating COTS hardware/software as part of a larger system and solutions (OS installation & configuration, RDBMS database installation and configuration (SQL server, NOSQL), Network design and configuration)
Minimum of 4-6 years of demonstrated experience of IP networking including network design and configuration, Cisco Adaptive Security Appliances (ASA), switches, routers, firewalls and associated firmware.
Experience with Datacenters and networking and configuration including Ethernet, routers and switches, servers, SNMP
Minimum 3-4 years experience in system administration including Windows, Windows Servers and Linux (Prefer Ubuntu)
Minimum 2-3 years experience in COTS and Custom software installation, system builds, installation packaging, deployment and configuration
Experience with GNSS and/or GPS systems (preferred).
Experience in high-tech manufacturing a plus.
Experience with Wireless communication systems – receivers, transmitters, RF propagation, Modulation a big plus.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES
Linux Server Administration (Ubuntu preferred)
Datacenters and networking -Ethernet, routers and switches, servers, SNMP, TCP/IP protocols (including HTTP/S)
Experience with DB server installation such as SQL Server, PostgresSQL, MongoDB installation and configuration
System performance monitoring and analysis (I/O, CPU, Networking)
Complex development troubleshooting (fault isolation)
Scripting experience (any of the Python/Perl/Ruby), SW (COTS, Custom installation, installation package for deployment and/or installation package imaging)
Solid presentation skills, both verbal and written
CWNP, CWNA, CWNE, CCNA, CCNP certification a plus
Familiarity with the continuous Deliver/Deployment model a plus
GIS data processing and/or chart server administration a big plus
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and written
Ability to collaborate globally
Team oriented with the ability to have fun
Ability to travel internationally up to 20%
