Job description
- Measuring and Cutting Glass: Glaziers measure the dimensions of glass needed for a specific project and cut it to fit accurately. This often involves using specialized tools such as glass cutters, glass drills, and glass saws.
- Installing Glass: Glaziers install glass in a variety of settings, including windows, doors, skylights, glass walls, and storefronts. They must ensure that the glass is properly fitted and securely attached to the surrounding frame or structure.
- Replacing Glass: Glaziers are often called upon to replace broken or damaged glass in existing structures. This involves removing the old glass, preparing the area for installation, and fitting the new glass into place.
- Handling Glass Safely: Glaziers must follow safety protocols to handle glass safely, as it can be sharp and fragile. This includes wearing appropriate protective gear and taking precautions to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Sealing and Insulating Glass: In addition to installing glass, glaziers may also be responsible for sealing and insulating it to improve energy efficiency and weatherproofing.
- Working with Different Types of Glass: Glaziers work with various types of glass, including tempered glass, laminated glass, insulated glass, and decorative glass. They must understand the properties of each type of glass and how to work with it effectively.
- Reading Blueprints and Specifications: Glaziers often work from blueprints, architectural drawings, and specifications provided by architects or contractors. They must be able to interpret these documents accurately to ensure that the glass is installed correctly.
- Customer Service: Glaziers may interact with customers to discuss their needs, provide estimates, and answer questions about the installation process.
- Experience in using power tools such as saws, drills, etc. is preferred but not required. We will train the right candidate if they have some experience or if they want to learn.
- Attendance and Organization: Glaziers must be timely, arrive to schedule shifts, and be organized to plan throughout the week.
- Must be willing to occasionally work out of town and stay overnight, as necessary.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
