Rowman & Littlefield is seeking an Editorial Assistant to provide editorial and administrative support to the Executive Editor and Acquiring Editors of non-fiction trade titles at our location in Guilford, CT (Lyons Press).
Process contracts and prepare payment requests
Prepare manuscripts and materials to transmit books to production department
Update records and reports in Excel and company systems
Read and evaluate book proposals
Write standard rejection letters
Request price quotes from manufacturing
Book imprint meetings and maintain weekly meeting schedules
Forward incoming mail, emails, and reader queries to appropriate author or editor
Maintain editorial library
Other editorial and administrative duties as assigned
Minimum bachelor’s degree, English or equivalent work experience (and/or Editorial internship experience)
High level of organizational skills
Extreme attention to detail
Excellent communication and time-management skills
Strong project management skills
Team oriented, but also able to work independently and efficiently
Positive with multi-tasking ability
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and easily adaptable to new computer systems.
