MaxGen has two major lines of business. The first is the planning, design and construction of electric vehicle (EV) charging and battery energy storage infrastructure. MaxGen is a specialist in the market and serves many of the major companies leading the electrification of passenger and fleet vehicles. The second line of business is comprehensive operations and maintenance services for solar, battery energy storage, and EV infrastructure owners and operators around the United States.

The Field Engineer/Construction Manager will be working in the field of renewable energy; specifically, the design and construction of electric vehicle charging stations.

Based on self-performed field observations, the Field Engineer/Construction Manager will be responsible for conceptualizing and developing detailed design and construction solutions for the implementation of electric vehicle infrastructure projects. The work will be performed in close collaboration with the engineering and construction departments. Subsequent responsibilities will include the supervision of highly skilled construction teams to implement approved designs.

Applicant should be able to deliver high quality, consistent, clear and competent work in electrical and general contracting activities in accordance with company/project requirements, standards, and procedures. Typical work includes, but is not limited to, performing field observations, documenting findings, accurate and expedient field reporting of findings, managing crews performing the installation of electrical equipment and general construction; trenching, cutting, patching, running conduit, drywall, asphalt, concrete, landscaping.

Attend pre-design job site meetings with clients
Document existing conditions and file field observation reports for engineering within 24-hours
Collaborate closely with the engineering department to develop practical design solutions
Supervise and direct all aspects of construction of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations
Prepare detailed schedules and ensuring the workmanship of all work by inspecting and approving trade partner’s work
Assume responsibility for maintaining a safe work environment
Ensure that the work is done in compliance with all federal, state, county, city and local codes, ordinances and project requirements.
Maintain records of all changes such as change orders and/or purchase orders
Perform such duties daily at multiple job sites
Manage all subcontractor personnel and ensure quality of work
Perform inspections and file corresponding paperwork
Approve all trade partner’s invoices regarding work completion and quality
Coordinate with Purchasing Department
Coordinate with various managers/departments regarding plans and specifications
Perform all other duties as assigned

Strong electrical and general construction experience
Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), Building Codes and ADA
Ability to understand and interpret Electrical Construction Documents
Seven (7) years minimum experience as a construction manager or field engineer
Well-rounded knowledge of construction and general contracting
Understanding and sensitivity to cost and construction issues
Hands-on construction manager willing to physically get involved in construction duties
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license
Basic skills in Microsoft Office
Good writing skills and detail oriented
Strong work ethic and integrity
Accepting of constructive feedback

80% of travel required
Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain & snow.
Job requires employee to have required tools with them at all times.
Perform work at various heights up to 50’, working from ladders, bucket trucks, scaffolding, catwalks, aerial lifts or other safe working platforms.
Work in restricted areas like trenches or switchgear rooms and infrequently like manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, attic spaces, etc...
Wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat and safety glasses at all times. Each job site may be different, and must be accessed individually.
Repetitive use of legs, arms, hands and fingers
Able to work 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week, overtime and night shifts as required
Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead
