Job Title: Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery Nurse
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Labor and Delivery to join our dedicated healthcare team. As a Labor and Delivery Nurse, you will provide exceptional patient care during the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and neonatal stages, ensuring the comfort and safety for both mother and baby. Your sharp critical-thinking skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and depth of knowledge in labor and delivery procedures will be essential in this role. Responsibilities and Duties:
- Monitor and assess maternal and fetal well-being throughout the labor and delivery process.
- Administer medications and pain management techniques to ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Assist with labor induction, augmentation, and monitoring of contractions.
- Provide emotional support and education to expectant mothers and their families.
- Perform tasks such as administering IV fluids, tracking fetal heart rates, and conducting cervical exams.
- Conduct physical assessments of newborns, including Apgar scoring, temperature monitoring, and vital sign checks.
- Assist in the implementation of birthing plans and ensure patient preferences are respected.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to create a comprehensive care plan.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, such as fetal distress or postpartum hemorrhage.
- Document all patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
- Comply with all regulatory, ethical, and legal standards in the provision of care.
- Participate in continuous professional development to stay updated with current evidence-based practices and advancements in labor and delivery nursing.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment for patients and staff.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills and teamwork to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Advocate for patients' rights and provide culturally sensitive care to a diverse population.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working in labor and delivery nursing.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications.
- Strong knowledge of antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care.
- Proficient in fetal monitoring and interpretation of results.
- Excellent critical-thinking and assessment skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and documentation.
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering patient-centered care.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
