This position is part of the Cape May National Wildlife Refuge. As a Administrative Support Assistant you will be responsible for providing administrative and clerical support for the staff of one or more stations in one of seven Administrative Zones of the National Wildlife Refuge System in Region 5.

Responsibilities

As an Administrative Support Assistant your duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

Greet visitors and respond to general inquiries via email, telephone, mail, and in person
Receive and file correspondence, reports, records and maintain filing systems both paper and electronic
Scan and photocopy documents in support of station administrative operations
Receive, sort and screen routine and commercial mail
Inventory and monitor office supplies and equipment
Serve as uniform coordinator for the station
Prepare orders for the purchase of materials, supplies and equipment
Complete documents related to the preparation of procurement packages, contracts, and cooperative agreements
Process a variety of recurring personnel actions
Perform various payroll related functions
Maintain and assist in reconciling charge card statements
Prepare and submit travel documents
Perform administrative tasks using work processing, spreadsheets, data base management, graphics and communication software
The following is preferred, but will not affect your overall rating:

Minimum Qualifications:
In order to qualify for this position you must meet one of the following requirements:
A. I possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 level or higher in the
Federal service. performing the following: providing personnel, clerical and technical services to support
processing personnel requests/forms using personal computers and/or an automated personnel management
system to complete personnel actions; skill in using a variety of software packages to process data and
correspondence; experience screening visitors and telephone calls, answering inquiries and referring
questions/issues to appropriate persons; setting-up and maintaining files and publications; using and
maintaining information into databases; purchasing office supplies and performing basic office procurement
duties OR
B. I have successfully completed four full years of education above high school level at an accredited business,
secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university OR
C. I possess a combination of experience and education as described above, which when combined, equals
100% of the total requirement. (Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours may be used in this
calculation). To calculate your percentage of education, first determine the total number of semester hours that
exceed 60 semester hours (or your school's definition of one year of study), then divide the total number of your
excess semester hours by 30 (or your school's definition of one year of study). To calculate your percentage of
qualifying experience, divide your total number of months of qualifying experience by 12. Now, add the two
percentages together. The sum of the percentages must equal at least 100%.

Public Land Corps (PLC) Hiring Authority:
Note: You must provide a copy of the Certificate of Eligibility for Non-Compliance Hiring Based for Public Land Corps Service.
(1) In order to be eligible for PLC non-competitive status, a former member of the PLC must provide documentation, as part of their application, verifying their eligibility and meet the following criteria:
(a) Served as a qualified youth on an appropriate conservation project completing a minimum of 640 hours of satisfactory service that included at least 120 hours through the PLC;
(b) Applied to a vacancy announcement for which applications are being accepted from individuals with non-competitive status;
(c) Meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) minimum qualification standards stated in the vacancy announcement for the position which you are applying; and

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
