TTUS Chief Financial Officer
Prepares and complies the Texas Tech University System (TTUS) combined AFR (CAFR) for timely and accurate submission to the State Comptroller's Office while ensuring the CAFR process is efficient and effective using automated process and utilizing effective communication with component institution accounting staff. Coordinates all State Comptroller and State Audit inquires related to the CAFR and responds timely to all requests.
Prepares and compiles the Texas Tech University System (TTUS) Combined AFR (CAFR) for timely and accurate submission to the State Comptrollers Office while ensuring the CARF process is efficient and effective using automated processes and utilizing effective communication with component institution accounting staff. Coordinates all State Comptroller and State Auditor inquiries related to the CAFR and responds timely to all request.
Provides direction to the TTUS financial accounting and reporting function and to TTUS component institutions accounting department for completion of the individual component institutions Annual Financial Report (AFR) to ensure timely and accurate submission of the AFRs. Reviews various financial reports for internal use and for external agency use and pr/reviews fluctuation explanation and performs financial analysis.
Interprets and implements Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements and communicates accounting and reporting impact to TTUS system administration and component institutions.
Participates on various internal and external committees and/or work groups to provide input on relevant topics related to higher education finances and/or to initiatives impacting the uniform accounting policies and practices for all System component institutions.
Ensure the accuracy of data output of financial forecasting software which is utilized for multi-year financial planning scenarios
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related Business Area. Seven years of experience in a management or supervisory role. Experience in Higher Education and State reporting requirements.

Proven ability to instill an environment across the System of continuous improvement.
Experience in service-related areas noted in the position description/essential functions
Experience in leading complex large-scale implementations, and collaboratively developing strategic plans to support various business initiatives
Experience in Texas Higher Education and State reporting requirements
Experience with financial statement preparation and analysis in a not for profit setting
CPA with a Masters degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience with Banner and Cognos Business for Intelligence for Reporting
Knowledge of Texas State Comptroller AFR guidelines/requirement
