The School of Art and Visual Studies (SAVS) at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in Photography, non-tenure track, one-year appointment with possibility of renewal, beginning August 2018. The primary teaching responsibility of this position is in digital photography and studio lighting. Primary responsibilities are teaching (75% assignment, the equivalent of 3 courses per semester) and service (25%) that benefits the academic and professional life of the School of Art & Visual Studies (including such assignments as foundation reviews, assessment, seminars, supervision of the photography labs, etc.).
Qualified applicants should have completed an MFA by August 2018. Preference may be given to applicants with teaching experience beyond the graduate level. Applicants should have a demonstrable knowledge of both still photography, of the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically PhotoShop, Bridge, and Lightroom, and with DSLR cameras. Applicants need to be able to teach continuous and strobe lighting within the studio and on location. Broader abilities in such areas as darkroom photography, video, etc. are a plus.
