Golder has a new opportunity for an HSSE Advisor. As part of the Health Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) team, the HSSE Advisor will report to the US HSSE Lead. This full-time role will be based in Denver, Colorado and involve providing HSSE support services to the Denver, Colorado operations, as well as providing HSSE mining support throughout the Central-US region (Denver, Reno, Tucson, Phoenix).
Responsibilities of the role will include:
Point of contact on HSSE issues.
Assist in the effective rollout of HSSE initiatives.
Participate in the development of new HSSE strategies, systems and programs as a member of the HSSE Team.
Liaise with Principals, Associates, and other senior staff to solicit their input and facilitate their satisfaction and understanding of HSSE initiatives.
Acting as a resource, provide guidance and support to operations, the Group Leaders, Principals and Associates and assist in implementing the HSSE Management System within the region.
Assist in aligning HSSE systems with legislative standards/requirements.
Provide guidance / expertise in conducting audits, investigations and inspections.
Review of Learnings Database entries, coordinate follow up action, and conduct incident investigations.
Conduct periodic site visits of offices and field projects.
Provide guidance and resource to HSSE Committees.
Provide HSSE support to proposals and project-specific HSSE Plans.
Assist with identification of internal and external regional HSSE training providers.
Deliver training courses, within your area of expertise.
Support operations as they deliver services to clients, build client relationships and align with client commitments to HSSE.
The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
Expert knowledge and competency in US MSHA & OHSA Regulations. Added value for Environmental competency.
Post-secondary diploma or degree in HSSE, Engineering or related Sciences preferred.
Registered Safety Professional designation or working towards meeting eligibility requirements.
7-10 years combined experience in HSSE.
Experience in consulting engineering, construction, mining / oil and gas sectors a benefit.
Experience with recognized management systems (OSHAS 18000, ISO 14001) a benefit.
Experience with hazard identification, development of HSSE controls, and incident investigation.
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Good problem solver with the ability to identify alternative solutions.
Self-starter and highly motivated.
Available to travel throughout the region in support of field programs, including those in remote locations.
Available for business travels and extended working hours, when required.
