The Quality Control Specialist is directly responsible for implementation and execution of the deposit process audits. The specialist will partner with multiple departments within Deposit Operations to ensure all deposit processes are processed and serviced in accordance with BCU policies, state and federal regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assess and manage risk, including testing and monitoring of regulatory, policy and process compliance
Work closely with process owners to review processes and identify risks and controls
Proactively identify potential business risks, process deficiencies and improvement opportunities and make recommendations for additional controls and corrective action to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of risk mitigation processes
Define and execute a risk based audit process for each deposit process and ensure compliance.
Maintain effective communication with process owners and support teams to remediate testing errors and assist with implementation of corrective actions related the testing errors and non-compliance with policies and procedures
Work with process owners to implement improvements related to quality assurance findings and department processes
Audit third party vendors to ensure quality and compliance requirements are properly adhered to.
Support external and regulatory audits by coordinating the retrieval of documents and other informational requests, and performing testing as required.
Establish and update procedures and product manuals related to quality assurance processes.
Lead and deliver metric reporting and other data-driven deliverables, with a focus on providing appropriate content, context and structure in a precise and timely manner
Develop effective and efficient methods leveraging SQL knowledge to enhance testing and sampling strategies (including automation) to ensure the most effective risk detection, analyses and control solutions
Minimum 3 years related experience in Credit Union, banking or financial environment required
College degree a strong plus
Results driven with a high level of member and quality focus
Understanding of regulations concerning consumer deposit products
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization
Excellent follow-up skills and detail orientation
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, must have the ability to assess risk and understand and document internal controls;
High proficiency with Symitar, Akcelerant, MeridianLink, and MS Office Suite
