- Medication Administration
Providence is calling a Registered Nurse (RN) (Skilled Nursing Care I Dept, Night Shift, 0.5 FTE) to Providence St. Joseph Care Center in Spokane, Washington . In this position you will:
Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
Ensure that all nursing personnel assigned to you comply with the written policies and procedures established by this facility.
Periodically review the department’s policies, procedure manuals, job descriptions, etc. Make recommendations for revisions.
Complete and file required record keeping forms/charts upon the resident’s admission, transfer, and/or discharge.
Encourage attending physicians to review treatment plans, record and sign their orders, progress notes, etc., in accordance with established policies.
Receive telephone orders form physicians and record on the Physicians Order form.
Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician.
Verify the identity of the resident before administering the medication/treatment.
Ensure that prescribed medication for one resident is not administered to another.
Participate in employee performance evaluations, determining your shift’s staffing requirements, and making recommendations to the Nurse Supervisor concerning employee dismissals, transfers, etc.
Inform the Nurse Supervisor of staffing needs when assigned personnel fail to report to work.
Report absentee call-ins to the Nurse Supervisor.
Inform nursing personnel of new admissions, their expected time of arrival, room assignment, etc.
Ensure that rooms are ready for new admissions.
Greet newly admitted residents upon admission. Escort them to their room as necessary.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate of an approved LPN program.
Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse or LPN in this state
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
On-the-job training provided.

Providence St. Joseph Care Center in Spokane, Washington is located on the campus of Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital. Our Transitional Care Unit is designed for patients coming out of the hospital who need skilled nursing care, end of life care, or rehabilitation for those recovering from surgery or who have a functional loss from illness, disease, or an accident. Our Long Term Care unit provides skilled nursing in a residential setting, addressing the needs of our residents through creating a sense of community and home and providing a model of care that is resident-centered.
