Coupa Software is seeking an experienced commercial attorney. This is a tremendous opportunity to join a small legal team and add immediate value to one of the fastest growing Cloud companies in Silicon Valley. Reporting to the General Counsel, this challenging role will encompass a wide range of legal matters, especially commercial contract review and negotiation.

Based in San Mateo, the ideal candidate should have at least 10 years of direct experience, of which at least 4 should come from an in-house environment. The right person for this position must be a team player with highly collaborative interpersonal skills. This individual will take pride in personal excellence, display a high level of proactivity and possess a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining proactive, resourceful, and efficient.

Draft and negotiate complex SaaS/Cloud agreements in support of sales transactions
Manage a playbook for contract negotiations and processes
Resolve legal issues and contract interpretation matters that arise in existing commercial relationships
Work with business executives and other departments’ stakeholders on a broad range of complex legal, business and strategic issues as they arise
Assist with other projects as assigned

Creative, flexible and experienced commercial attorney with business-oriented outlook
Strong experience in cloud services/SaaS business model
10+ years of relevant experience preferred, with at least 4 years in-house.
Highly collaborative and able to organize and manage projects with multiple stakeholders and groups
Fast learning, self-starter with an outstanding record and demonstrated ability to work with the Sales team
Tactful with strong external negotiation skills
Detail oriented, well organized and technically adept
Accredited law degree and a current license
