This is a multi-purpose position that will involve Transportation Supervision and Routing duties.
Transportation Duties Include:
Responsible for supervision and training of drivers at Operating Company (OpCo), and for ensuring deliveries are made in safe, efficient and timely manner
Supervises associates to include, but not limited to:
staffing, training, coaching, performance management and problem resolution
Assists Transportation/Operations with overall day to day administration of trans and delivery functions, such as payroll, driver logs/expense reports, and ensure DOT and OpCo regulations are maintained and met.
Ensures drivers fulfill duties safely by monitoring vehicle safety, safe usage of ramps and handcarts, seat and weight belt use, and safe lifting and product-handling practices
Coordinates tracking of all relevant information on drivers
Ensures accurate completion of all delivery and driver-related paperwork
Ensures maintenance of all trucks, tractors and trailers through detailed review of post-trip inspections
Works in conjunction with Transportation or Operations Manager to minimize operating expenses and to ensure all deliveries are efficiently routed.
Routing Duties Include:
Responsible for calculating routes and times of deliveries, and makes the necessary adjustments for drivers and customers. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duties assigned to best serve the company.
Establish delivery routes which are cost effective and compliant with Federal DOT guidelines while still maintaining an acceptable level of customer service, quality and satisfaction. Utilize Roadnet application to ensure Delivery costs are held to company expected run rates year over year.
Establish routing procedures and schedules which allow for the optimum use of personnel and equipment while keeping a strong emphasis on driver safety.
Perform Roadnet application routing maintenance daily to ensure all locations have accuracte, timely, and up-to-date information: Standard Routes and Customer Delivery Requirements; Geo-Coding, delivery days, time windows, service time types, service time overrides, account types, meal beaks; Route start times, pre/post trips, starting/ending depot, travel modes, color for mapping, assigned driver, equipment and DOT road checks; Plan Maintenance equipment with regards to costing, restrictions, and capacities.
Perform and provide costing, off-days, maintenance, scorecard, customer and KPI reporting on scheduled intervals
Perform a recap of the previous days actual routing results and make necessary changes/adjustments to the Standard routes if required.
Perform maintenance on backhaul locations and produce backhaul reporting to logistics as requested.
Make maps and print driving instructions for drivers that are not familiar with the route assigned. Produce driver manifest report and distribute nightly.

2+ years transportation or related experience including knowledge of DOT and safety regulations, along with experience in operation of computerized fleet management systems.
2+ years supervisory experience
2+ years experience transportation routing
Intermediate computer skill proficiency and experience utilizing specialized transportation software.
High School Diploma or state approved equivalent
Must be able to work at Santa Cruz location until Gilroy facility opens in June 2019
4+ years transportation experience including knowledge of DOT and safety regulations, along with experience in operation of computerized fleet management systems within foodservice industry.
Associates/2-year technical degree
Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) certified
