The Jobe Systems Lighting Department is in need of full time designer for lighting and shade projects in our Houston and/or Chicago offices. The ideal candidate shall possess exceptional organizational skills, the ability to provide clear, concise, and proactive project plans including establishing coordinated lighting layouts, lighting control and motorized shade plans for project personnel including project managers, installation technicians, and project programmers to deliver the project scope on time and while exceeding the clients’ expectations.


  • Measure and specify appropriate shades solutions.
  • Document lighting design in AutoCAD such as fixture placement, circuiting, fixture type and location, etc. Provide written fixture specification document and cut sheets for electrician / builder. Manage and submit revisions to drawings / specifications as needed. Create sketches and renderings when needed to convey design concepts.
  • Document lighting control design in AutoCAD such as circuiting tags, keypad layout, equipment locations, low voltage wire runs, etc. Manage and submit revisions to drawings due to changes from other consultants or field conditions as needed.
  • Create, program and revise Lutron control system files. Create project binders of all necessary reports needed for successful installation including load schedules, panel wiring reports, equipment cut sheets, etc.
  • Coordinate field changes into documentation, revise dimming types as needed.
  • Coordinate installation of Lighting Fixtures / Lutron Equipment with Installation Technicians / Electricians to ensure design expectations are met.
  • Travel to site to confirm intended lighting / Lutron control designs are met, as well as functionality of the programmed house scenes / shades. Meet with client to determine desired fixture aiming for art work, lighting levels throughout the house and any keypad engraving revisions.
  • Direct technician or electrician to aim and lamp fixtures according to specifications. Set scenes in the evening to desired light levels throughout the house.


Degree in Interior Lighting Design or Architecture preferred. Minimum of 3 years experience with high end residential projects including knowledge or implementation of Lutron Lighting Control. Ability to travel to project sites throughout the United States. Proficiency in AutoCAD. (Revit, 3D Software, Photoshop/Illustrator, Lutron HWI and QS a plus.)

A portfolio of lighting design or lighting control projects is required for consideration.
