The System Administrator II is responsible for the design, installation, administration, maintenance, and security of network servers, business applications, and Information Technology (IT) infrastructure including but not limited to all programs under Upbring, Lutheran Social Services of the South, and Trinity Charter Schools. The System Administrator II will also assist and perform some responsibilities of the network team and provide support to the Help Desk team.

Essential Duties

  • Participate in the development, design, installation, administration, ongoing maintenance and support of the IT infrastructure to meet business goals for system availability, stability, and security
  • Maintain and support the Windows Server 2003/2008/2012 infrastructure including Terminal Services, Active Directory, and Windows network services
  • Manage agency-wide back-up systems
  • Using knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help administer, implement, document, and support IT network devices, such as: switches, routers, and wireless infrastructure
  • Plan, test, and deploy patches, updates, and new software to workstations and servers
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues for desktop computers, laptops, and server systems; provide troubleshooting, support, and resolution for application, hardware, and communication problems
  • Provide systems services such as disk management, problem determination and resolution, disaster recovery and directory structure management
  • Assist with maintaining and supporting educational internet filters
  • Install, configure, and test computer hardware and software
  • Assist with new system design, development, testing, implementation, and evaluation
  • Provide product deployment, maintenance and support
  • Create and maintain documentation required to support IT infrastructure
  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize performance of technologies
  • Provide notification and escalation for maintenance and outage activity
  • Assist with tickets or issues regarding Group Policy, servers offline, network outages, system wide email outages, firewalls, internet filters, core applications offline, core switches offline, and network or server related systemic issues
  • Delegate tasks related to system and network administration to System Administrator I
  • Provide guidance, technical leadership, and training to less experienced staff
  • Maintain and support firewalls and content and spam filters
  • Assist with management of IT core applications such as Exchange, Office 365, Mobile Device Management, ticketing systems, Microsoft SharePoint, etc.
  • Assist with configuring and maintaining telephone, voicemail, and camera surveillance systems for all facilities
  • Provide Help Desk support, such as resolving user problems with desktop application, workstations, and peripheral equipment when needed
  • Provide on-call support when needed
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

  • Work closely with management and staff to ensure operations are effectively and efficiently supporting the needs of the end users and department and organizational goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or closely related field
  • 5 years’ network server experience
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot
  • Strong working knowledge of VMware, Windows Server 2008, Server 2012, Windows 7, Windows 10, MS Office products, network connectivity, and Active Directory
  • Knowledge and working experience with Microsoft Exchange/Outlook 2007 and 2010
  • Strong customer services skills with the ability to establish a positive rapport
  • Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure components and software system platforms
  • Demonstrated and strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to critically think and present creative solutions
  • Ability to work in an organized and detailed manner to meet competing requests
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook and Management Information Systems (MIS)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or closely related field
  • 7 years’ network server experience

Physical Demands & Work Conditions

  • This position requires sitting and looking and using a computer for long periods of time
  • Lift, push, pull, move up to 75 lbs.

Salary: $57,000.00 to $85,000.00 /year
