Full Job Description
H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, environmental consulting firm seeks a Resident Engineer for potential NYC DDC and NYS DOT projects. The R.E. will oversee and direct the resident engineering construction inspection services teams assigned to various infrastructure projects. He/She will work closely with the client's management team and the construction contractor to deliver successful projects.
Provides quality assurance, testing procedures, inspection protocols, construction techniques, and timely completion of daily inspection activities.
Schedule testing and inspection of materials used on projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications and ordinances on behalf of clients/owners.
Reviews plans for assigned projects, observes and inspects construction work performed by others and attends pre-construction conferences, progress meetings and safety meetings.
Interprets drawings and specifications.
Monitors contract cost and schedule; revises order preparation as necessary.
Reviews submittals and other construction documents and recommends technical solutions.
Performs daily inspections, daily reports, punch list inspections, and participates in project schedule/invoice reviews.
Manages contracts and maintains quality assurance requirements and approaches; manage field inspection and monitoring code compliance issues.
Utilizes basic knowledge of cost trends, change management, claims, and other construction-related matters to ensure compliance with company standards.
Attends and/or leads project site coordination meetings.
Mentors and/or supervises junior staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college required.
Valid NYS P.E. License
Qualified for ASCE Grade V
Minimum 5 years of experience in construction inspection or management of infrastructure (NYC DDC) construction projects (highways/sewer/water)
Experience with NYC DDC and NYS DOT preferred.
