Engineer / Accident Reconstructionist

Scientific Analysis, Inc - Dallas, TX

Full-timeEstimated: $60,000 - $85,000 a year

Come join the fascinating world of Accident Reconstruction with Scientific Analysis, Inc., a company respected in the field for its state of the art technology and its excellent reputation. As SAI continues to grow we are looking for the best and the brightest engineers to join our team in Dallas, Texas.

What is Accident Reconstruction? Accident Reconstruction is the process of using scientific methodology to determine the circumstances, mechanics, and contributing factors associated with a collision. It requires a working knowledge of many disciplines including physics, vehicle dynamics, mathematics, photogrammetry, and computer applications (e.g. spreadsheets, AutoCAD, simulation or modeling tools, graphics, photo management software). Questions such as, "How fast was the vehicle going at impact?" or "How much did the vehicle slow during locked-wheel braking?" or "At what angles did the two vehicles collide?" or "Should Mr. Smith begin to skid earlier?" or "Should the airbags have deployed in the crash?", can be answered by the Reconstructionist after thorough evaluation of available information.

Our company is typically retained by attorneys involved in a lawsuit that has devolved as a result of an incident (automobile/semi-truck/construction equipment/pedestrian/bicycle/motorcycle). Our roll in the case varies depending on the facts, but ultimately we are hired to become their testifying expert of the facts related to the incident.

The work is a mix between field and office work. Travel will be required but is mostly day trips. Once hired, the applicant will conduct accident investigation, reconstruction and analysis for passenger and commercial vehicles through employment of engineering and scientific disciplines. He/She will inspect, photograph and measure accident scenes using GPS surveying equipment, drone and 3D scanner technology. He/She will inspect, photograph and measure the involved passenger and/or commercial vehicles and download data from the "black boxes" to obtain crash information. The applicant will use the data collected in the field to support the analysis of the crash while in the office. He/She will produce trial and deposition testimony aids such as 3D accident site diagrams, maps, charts and crime scene exhibits. The applicant will eventually develop into an expert in the field of Accident Reconstruction and testify to their findings in front of a court and/or jury.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
