Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for submitting medical claims to Medi-Cal ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement for services provided.
Duties:
- Confirm client and claim eligibility for Medi-Cal and track of participants’ ongoing eligibility.
- Review, verify, and track vendor billing against approval processes in coordination with Supervisors, Assistant Director, and/or Program Director.
- Process and monitor that vendor contracts are compliant with program requirements.
- Correct and update billing procedures in case management software and/or databases as needed.
- Prepare and submit monthly billing for program services.
- Review bills and invoices for accuracy and completeness and verify any missing information.
- Maintain accurate records
- Remain current with all Medi-Cal and MCP billing requirements and recovery guidelines and procedures.
- Identify and resolve issues that may lead to Medi-Cal or MCP denials and make appropriate changes.
- Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle time limits.
- Review and re-submit denied claims and track the appeals process.
- Verify Medi-Cal and MCP payments for accuracy and compliance with contracted amounts.
- Contact Medi-Cal, MCP, and/or CDA or DHCS, as needed, regarding discrepancies, denials, appeals, underpayments, etc.
Skills:
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills:
- Proficiency in medical billing software systems
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG coding systems
- Experience in medical collections and coding
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
