FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Shop Manager, the Sales Person is responsible for waiting on customers, assisting them with purchases, setting up displays, stocking shelves, packaging goods, and cleaning of the retail area.
WORK PERFORMED:
1. Set-up, opening, and closing duties required to get the store ready for daily business.
2. Assists customers with their purchases:
a. Sells merchandise, package items, rings up purchases on the computer, and operates adding machines.
b. Takes telephone messages and handles telephone orders by preparing items for the customer or packaging for shipping.
c. Assists customer in selection of merchandise and obtains stocked items from stockroom.
d. Maintains a thorough knowledge of the merchandise and their history to assist in customer selection.
e. Gift wraps items if requested.
3. Sets up displays as directed.
4. Cleans and stocks merchandise and supplies.
5. Responsible for counting the day’s cash till at the closing of the business.
6. Assists with inventory control.
a. Counts and records sales and merchandise.
b. Assists in taking inventory on merchandise at year- end and for reports.
7. Communicates with customers about merchandise, tourist information, and extending the hospitality of the Gift Shop as well as the city of Frankenmuth.
8. Cleans the shop area as necessary or assigned, such as mopping floors and/or cleaning and arranging shelves.
9. Works in a safe manner at all times and eliminates or reports unsafe conditions or injuries when necessary.
10. Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Computer experience preferred.
High School diploma or equivalent, or sales experience.
Must be at least 16 years of age if in high school.
Neat appearance and friendly, hospitable disposition.
Basic arithmetic and cash skills in order to operate a cash
register (computer) with ease.
Ability to stand and walk at all times and lift moderate weights continually.

Pay: From $12.50 per hour
